Spring Cleaning: Wax-Based Cleaning And Polishing Products

Spring is the season to get your home looking fresh. With the warmer weather comes a sense of renewal. As you reach for your cleaning products this spring, you may notice some have wax in them.

Paste wax is a popular cleaning product commonly used on furniture and floors to give them a protective, shiny coating. Wax pastes are also used to shine the exterior paint on vehicles. Some paste wax products also have cleaning agents mixed in to give your furniture, floor or car a shiny, clean look.

Paste waxes and car waxes aren’t just for cleaning and polishing. They can be used for many other things, too! Remove rust rings, shine leather shoes, fight mildew and hide scratches with this simple cleaning product.

Wax cleaners

Most wax polishes or cleaning products contain paraffin and microcrystalline waxes. Paraffin wax provides lubrication and waterproofing on the applied surface. Microcrystalline wax provides similar benefits. Mixed together, the two wax types make the perfect protective layer. Some wax-based cleaning or polishing products may contain beeswax or carnauba wax. Carnauba wax is used to increase the hardness of the product.

We recommend including wax-based polishes and cleaners in your spring cleaning regimen to extend the life of your furniture, flooring or vehicle paint.
