What is The ISO 9001 Certification?

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent organization that develops and creates international standards that give specifications for products, services and systems, to ensure quality, safety and efficiency.

ISO 9000 is a quality management standard which covers different aspects to ensure a company produces consistent quality products. Specifically Blended Waxes is certified in ISO 9001:2008. This standard sets requirements related to customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, processes, systems, continual improvement, decision making, and supplier relations.

The standard requires BWI to create a Quality Management System documenting the processes for providing customer with a product which meets their requirements. Processes such as receiving an order, scheduling production, producing the product, verifying the product, and shipping the product, are a few of the many processes documented and controlled by BWI.

Throughout the year internal audits are conducted on the various processes documented in the Quality Management System. The goal of the audit is to ensure that the process meets the requirements set forward by ISO, ensure that the process is being completed as it is spelled out, and to observe the process and offer insights and suggestions on how to improve.

BWI’s Quality Management System is also audited annually by an ISO 9001 accredited body, TUV Rheinland. The auditing body comes in once a year to audit the Quality Management System. Every three years they conduct recertification audits to ensure that BWI meets the standard, and the other years they conduct a surveillance audit to ensure we are still reflecting the standard.

BWI has been ISO 9001 certified since 2007, and continually looks to expand and improve the Quality System.
