Over the last few months, Blended Waxes installed several new tanks in the emulsions area of our plant.

In 2014, we installed four tanks for wax storage and emulsion blending. Recently, we’ve started a new project that requires more tank space. We installed six additional tanks in our emulsion area and repurposed three more tanks for these special projects. These tanks will be used for blending and storage of material for a specific customer.

About The Tanks

Four of the nine tanks will be used for storage. These tanks are capable of holding about 47,000 gallons or more than 390,000 pounds of product combined! Two of the storage tanks are 18 feet tall and 12 feet in diameter, similar to some of our other storage tanks.

The other five tanks will be used for various purposes throughout the production process, including raw material storage and processing. Some of these production tanks are connected to steam, which allows us to heat the product. Other tanks are connected to cooling water, which allows us to cool the product. The production tanks are smaller in size. They range from 1,600 to 8,000 gallon capacity.

In total, there are just under 80,000 gallons of tank capacity dedicated to this special project for this customer. Over the course of one year, the new tanks will produce and store more than 15 million pounds of product!
