Protected: Wax Safety Guidelines

General Wax Safety Guidelines

Working with our waxes requires safe handling and storage practices. Always review the product specifications and safety sheets above before using Blended Waxes.

Follow these universal wax safety guidelines to minimize risk and ensure compliance.

Thermal Safety

  • Always monitor temperature when melting wax.
  • Avoid overheating the wax and overly hot heating elements. Flash points for paraffin and microcrystalline waxes typically range between 200°F–400°F (93°C–204°C).
  • Use double boilers or temperature-controlled kettles to reduce the risk of fire.

Handling Precautions

  • Wear PPE, including protective gloves and safety goggles when working with wax.
  • Work in well-ventilated areas to reduce fumes and respiratory risk.
  • Clean any spills immediately to prevent injury from slips, falls, and contamination.
  • Avoid exposing the wax to copper, brass, zinc, or other metals. These promote oxidation over time.

Solid Wax Storage Recommendations

  • Store solid waxes in cool, dry, and well-ventilated areas.
  • Keep solid waxes away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Keep solid waxes in original packaging.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and humidity, which can degrade product quality.
  • Make sure containers are clearly labeled with product name, batch number, and hazard info.

Chemical Compatibility

  • Do not mix wax with any unknown chemicals or additives.
  • Refer to product-specific Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for specifics on additives and hazards.

Emergency Procedures

  • Never use water on wax fires. Use foam, COâ‚‚, or dry chemical extinguishers.
  • Seek medical help for burns and contact with skin or eyes.
  • Keep SDS and emergency contact numbers easily accessible.
