Beehive Wax
Beehive wax is a specially formulated coating product designed to protect wooden beehives and extend their lifespan. Wooden hives are essential for beekeepers, housing bee colonies and honeycombs through every season. Exposure to sun, rain, and snow can quickly wear down untreated wood, but applying beehive wax creates a durable, moisture-resistant barrier that preserves and strengthens hive structures.
At Blended Waxes, we manufacture high-quality beehive wax using a custom blend of paraffin wax and microcrystalline wax. This formula provides superior adhesion and flexibility, ensuring a long-lasting seal that protects against the elements while remaining safe for your bees.
Compared to other coating methods, like paint or stain, beehive wax does not require off-gassing time to reduce harsh smells that may deter the bees. Once applied and solidified, a beehive wax coating resists moisture, sunlight, and temperature changes, so it will withstand rain, snow, and sun to preserve your wooden structure.
Adding a wax coating to a wooden beehive can greatly increase your equipment’s longevity. While these wax coatings can protect the wood from the elements, they also help prevent wood rot caused by moisture and fungi. Beekeepers can also re-dip their beehives as often as needed for reuse.
This product is a blend of paraffin and microcrystalline wax with high adhesion capabilities. This product is white and translucent when applied to wood.
