Why Hunters Need Duck Wax

Why Hunters Need Duck Wax

Duck hunting is a popular fall sport for many people in the U.S. in Wisconsin, duck hunting season kicks off this month for some duck species. Hunting enthusiasts probably have all their gear ready to go, but one commonly forgotten hunting supply is duck wax. If you are a waterfowl hunter, duck wax can be your best friend.

Duck Wax

Duck wax helps to remove pinfeathers from waterfowl. Instead of spending hours plucking feathers from your game catch, let the wax help you peel off the feathers.

Duck wax is one of the special wax blends we create. You may think any type of wax can remove the feathers from the bird, but each wax type serves a specific purpose. Our duck wax blend has a variety of ingredients, including microcrystalline wax, to give it extra adhesion to remove all the feathers.

Duck wax is easy to use. To get started, dry-pluck as many feathers as you can by hand. Then, heat up water with the wax in it to 160 degrees to melt the wax. Once the wax is melted, dip the duck in the melted wax twice to thoroughly coat the bird. After the wax hardens, you can peel off the wax-coated feathers to reveal a clean bird.
